"I know you’re a damned Irony Olympian, and you think it makes you seem smart. It might have once but now everyone’s ironic about everything. The virus of irony might have once been a carrier for intelligence or wit but that’s being bred out of it as the virus mutates and spreads. The only sure way to seem smart is to be smart. And if you don’t stop making people feel bad for having the courage to actually be smart instead of just posting a note of irony on the front door of their personality that’s meant to signify “INTELLIGENCE WITHIN,” I don’t know what I’m gonna do."

— DC Pierson in a rant about book reading. I don’t know what made him mad, but I’m glad it did.

Non-Smartphone owners:

You are Neanderthal garbage. Perhaps you can sell enough of your surplus donkey pelts to raise the $199 necessary to upgrade your tin can to the introductory iPhone 4S. Get started on that now; you never know when your stone-hewn clamshell may break when you’re scratching text messages into the side of your cave, hoping your recipient will wander across it during next year’s hunt-migration. Have fun Occupying Wall Street, Zog.

Mark Lisanti, “LQ EasyTechGuide: Should You Upgrade to the iPhone 4S?”

I’m finally trading in my 2006 Samsung flip phone for an iPhone 4S. Thanks, Mom!

Kai’s “controversial” poem. This topic I can definitely relate to as someone who was told in high school that I “act white” because I got straight A’s, and in college, “I thought you were stupid until you spoke” because I’m black. (Had to compress it all crazy to get it to upload to Tumblr. It had to be removed from “other outlets” due to verbal content. But what happens on Tumblr, stays on Tumblr.) … ;-)

This is really beautiful. I fucking love when people stand up for who they are.

Bad assery.

The other day, JTT was at Trader Joe’s. I was so jaded that I wasn’t even excited about it and then 11-year-old me got so upset. She was like, “But Lindsay! What about our dreams about having a rich father who owned a casino and then JTT would be in the casino and see you rollerskating around the casino and think, ‘She’s so free-spirited, I have to get to know her’ and then you two would be in looooooove?” And I was like, “11-year-old me, your run-on sentences are embarrassing.” And I paid for my food and left.
