In which we, and Glenn Beck, are reminded that Katie Couric has mad interviewing skills (via soupsoup:newsweek)
Two things - first, this fucking guy?! I’m all about freedom of speech, but that people can make these wild statements and when called directly are able to say, “I’m not going to explain the acerbic, incendiary, racist thing I just said because you’re trapping me” - he should be stripped of his privilege to speak publicly. Instead though, his evasiveness is going to be hugely successful with his audience, who, like Sarah Palin’s after Couric’s interview, will praise him for “not playing Katie’s Washington / liberal media political games.” His responses are precisely the defensive, circular logic you would expect after calling out a friend for peeing his pants when you were six-years-old.
Second, damn Katie! Not to get all covertly sexist, but homegirl’s pulling those crazy maneuvers my mom used to rock on me. “I’m not trying to trap you, I think…[I] just wanted to know what that meant… if you want to explain you have all the time in the world.” Dude, just stop, you’re fucked. At that point you just have to turn around and lower your head and hope she’s not wearing her patent-leather heels as you whimper away slowly.
How can this be a “trap?” It’s an opportunity to explain and clarify a statement. It’s only a trap if you DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WERE SAYING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I’ll say this for the man. He’s a more apt liar than Sarah Palin. So good on you there, Glenn.
